Abstract
Sleep duration seems to have declined during the last century in adolescents; however, empirical evidence is scarce. To add another piece to the puzzle, data from Germany from the year 1907 have been compared with recently obtained data from the years 2006–2008. Rise times seem more or less stable during the last 100 years (with differences less than 10 min), while bed times were later a century ago, and, hence sleep length was about half an hour longer in 2006–2008 than in 1907. This is interesting, since it contradicts the decline in sleep length claimed over the last 100 years.
