We read with much interest the publication by Domniz et al. [
1]. In a retrospective study, the authors compared the results of total extraperitoneal patchplasty (TEP) for inguinal hernia surgery using slit versus non-slit mesh placement. After a mean follow-up of 36 months (range 6–66 months), they noted a recurrence rate of 0.6% for the slit mesh group and 5.9% for the non-slit mesh group (
