I always admire papers by Leo Clodius, but at the same time I feel very inadequate since I do not have the intellectual capacity or the cerebral computer packed with references which he seems to have. The point that he brings up in this paper is that, in many ways plastic surgery is not a measurable science. In other words, it is difficult to apply evidence-based medicine to our specialty. This is unfortunate because our patients in many ways demand this, and the lawyers that we face from time to time find this situation to be incomprehensible to them. Because of this it is important to have experts such as Dr. Clodius stating this in print, but on the other hand it is up to us as a group to set standards. If we are to do this, it is necessary that we examine our end results. …
