I am writing to remark on the comments of Arora and Sevdalis [
1] and the reply by Henrickson Parker et al. [
2]. Both sides of the arguments are true, depending on the interpretation of the impact of disruptions on the surgical team and how such impact is measured. Despite evidence to suggest that disruption events are most likely to affect the surgical team’s performance, there are no studies in the existing literature in which the effect of disruption on surgical time has been measured.
