As you have undoubtedly noticed, this month’s issue of the Annals looks different. As many of you were already aware, the Annals has a new publisher. About a year ago, we learned that our long time publishing partner Lawrence Erlbaum Associates (LEA) was ceasing operations and had been sold to the Taylor and Francis publishing group. As the word spread among the academic publishing world, the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) began to be courted by a number of top publishers who had observed the Annals’ growth and success over the years and had learned that LEA was no longer in business. This past spring, the SBM board of directors began considering publisher proposals. While this was a difficult and time-consuming process, it was extraordinarily rewarding to see the enthusiasm that potential publishers had for our journal, its place in the field, and its future. …
