Thyroid disease during pregnancy is considered a risk factor for maternal and neonatal complications. The prevalence of overt hypothyroidism in pregnancy ranges from 0.3 to 0.7% [1, 2], while subclinical hypothyroidism occurs in 2–10% [2]. Autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD) is characterized by the presence of anti-thyroid antibodies irrespective of thyroid function status and its prevalence in pregnancy ranges from 5% to 14% [3]. …
