Highlights
Venous Thromboembolism is one of the common complications seen in hospitalized patients leading to increased mortality and morbidity.
Early initiation of anticoagulation for management of venous thromboembolism in brain injury patients is challenging due to the risk of hemorrhagic complications.
The results from this study suggest that early use of anticoagulation for venous thrombosis was not associated with poor functional outcomes.
Larger studies are warranted to assess the safety of early initiation of anticoagulation therapy in this patient population.
