The Indian Journal of Gastroenterology (IJG) has become an established journal in the field of gastroenterology due to the untiring and dedicated efforts of its previous editors and the editorial board members. From here on, the Indian Society of Gastroenterology has entrusted us with the task of taking the journal forward. After being established in 1982 as an official publication of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, the IJG has steadily improved in its standing over the last four decades. It is now indexed in all prominent scientific sites such as EMBASE, Medline, SCOPUS, Google scholar, SCImago and Web of Science. Its previous editors including Drs BJ Vakil, FP Antia, SR Naik, Philip Abraham, Shobna J Bhatia, BS Ramakrishna and Uday C Ghoshal have worked diligently to improve the quality of the journal. Dr Rakesh Aggarwal has also contributed immensely to the editing process of the journal. Mr Marian D’Souza has been the backbone of the journal office and has meticulously helped us in ensuring that each issue is as error-free as possible. …
