Recent data obtained through analysis of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tobacco epidemic 2019 indicate that about 5 million people (65%) of the world’s population are now covered by at least by one MPOWER measure (Monitor tobacco use and prevention policies; protect people from tobacco smoke; offer help to quit tobacco use; warn about the dangers of tobacco; enforce bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship; raise taxes on tobacco) at the highest achievement levels, which has been quadrupled since 2007, when one billion people (15%) were covered [
1]. Of the 5 million people protected by at least one complete POWER measure, 3.9 billion live in low- and middle-income countries. Brazil and Turkey are the only two middle-income countries that have adopted all POWER measures at the highest level. …
