Für ausgewählte Patienten mit Prostatakarzinom, die nach primär kurativ intendierter Strahlentherapie einen lokalen Rückfall erleiden, scheinen lokale Therapien ohne Einsatz von Androgendeprivation eine rationale Option zu sein, wie eine Metaanalyse nahelegt.

Interventionsprogramm reduziert Angst und Depression bei jungen Krebskranken

Laut einer US-amerikanischen Studie senkt ein strukturiertes Problemlösetraining für junge Erwachsene mit Krebs psychische Belastungen deutlich. Es wurden klinisch relevante Verbesserungen bei Angst, Depression und Lebensqualität nachgewiesen.

Warum das Herz so selten Krebs bekommt

Primäre Malignome – und selbst Metastasen anderer Tumoren – befallen das Herz vergleichsweise selten. Ein internationales Forschungsteam hat nun starke Hinweise dafür vorgelegt, dass es der Herzschlag selbst ist, der das Organ vor malignen Angriffen schützt.

Akute Entzündungsprozesse können bei gefährdeten Personen möglicherweise ein Vorhofflimmern (VHF) triggern: In einer Studie ereigneten sich VHF-Episoden häufiger an Tagen mit erhöhten Werten von C-reaktivem Protein (CRP).
