We have noted with interest that the US Food and Drug Administration recently approved the marketing of an anatomy software for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia using artificial intelligence (AI) to help clinicians perform peripheral nerve blocks.
1 It would seem that the term AI has different meanings in different contexts, because there is no definitive definition of AI. But, AI generally refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes (behaviour) by machines, especially computer systems.
