Eine Demenzerkrankung begünstigt das Auftreten depressiver Symptome, sodass viele Menschen mit Demenz auch an einer Depression leiden. Jedoch ist die Depression im geriatrischen Kontext unterdiagnostiziert und wird sehr oft nicht adäquat behandelt.
