Zusammenfassung

Diabetes mellitus ist ein erhebliches Gesundheitsproblem mit steigender Prävalenz weltweit, mitbedingt durch Bewegungsmangel, Übergewicht und eine Verdreifachung des Zuckerkonsums in den letzten 50 Jahren. Die Stoffwechselerkrankung geht mit verschiedenen Komorbiditäten einher, wobei die Auswirkungen auf die Lunge zwar zunehmend untersucht werden, allerdings im klinischen Alltag oft noch unbeachtet bleiben. Der Beitrag liefert einen kurzen Überblick zur Diagnostik und Therapie der verschiedenen Formen des Diabetes für Pneumologen. Zudem werden der Einfluss der Diabeteserkrankung auf Lungenfunktion und Bildgebung sowie wichtige Wechselwirkungen mit pneumologischen Krankheiten aufgezeigt.
