Diagnostic accuracy concerning the depth of tumor invasion (T-stage) is crucial for therapeutic decision making and oncologic outcomes of patients with solid cancer. In gastric cancer treatment, decisions between endoscopic resection (T1m [mucosal] and selected T1sm [small submucosal good differentiated cancer]) and open or laparoscopic D2 gastrectomy (T1sm, T2, T3, selected T4) and between preoperative (neoadjuvant) and perioperative or postoperative adjuvant treatment strongly affect patients’ overall survival and quality-of-life [1‐3]. …

Das Karpaltunnelsyndrom ist die häufigste Kompressionsneuropathie peripherer Nerven. Obwohl die Anamnese mit dem nächtlichen Einschlafen der Hand (Brachialgia parästhetica nocturna) sehr typisch ist, ist eine klinisch-neurologische Untersuchung und Elektroneurografie in manchen Fällen auch eine Neurosonografie erforderlich. Im Anfangsstadium sind konservative Maßnahmen (Handgelenksschiene, Ergotherapie) empfehlenswert. Bei nicht Ansprechen der konservativen Therapie oder Auftreten von neurologischen Ausfällen ist eine Dekompression des N. medianus am Karpaltunnel indiziert.
