Nausea, vomiting and alopecia: case report

A 45-year-old man with metastatic prostate cancer began receiving IV gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 as a 0.5-hour infusion and IV fluorouracil 2000 mg/m2 as a 24-hour infusion on days 1, 8 and 15, followed by one week of rest. He subsequently developed grade 1 nausea, vomiting and alopecia [duration of treatment to reactions onset not stated]. After 6 cycles of chemotherapy, he achieved partial remission and underwent complete resection of his primary tumour. He remained symptom- and relapse-free after 8 years of follow-up. …
