Scleroderma is a connective tissue disorder with widespread manifestation involving the heart, lungs, kidneys, GI tract, muscles, and skin. In 1753 an Italian doctor, Carlo Curzio, described the first agreed upon case of scleroderma [
1]. This case was translated to English in 1754 by Watson, and describes a 17-year-old girl who complained of “…an excessive tension and hardness of her skin over all her body, by which she found herself so bound and straiten’d that she could hardly move her limbs …her skin hard to the touch, like wood, or a dry hide [
