Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Im Rahmen der Fördermaßnahme „Kompetenznetze in der Medizin“, durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) gefördert, wurde das Kompetenznetz HIV/AIDS (KompNet HIV/AIDS) als ein interdisziplinärer Forschungsverbund aufgebaut. Hier haben sich deutschlandweit wesentliche HIV/AIDS-Forschungsgruppen zusammengeschlossen.

Ziel

Nach erfolgreichem Aufbau steht die Bereitstellung von Forschungsinfrastrukturen zur nationalen und internationalen Zusammenarbeit im Mittelpunkt. Durch die Bündelung von Forschungsaktivitäten werden Voraussetzungen geschaffen für die Verbesserung der Behandelbarkeit der HIV-Erkrankung sowie die Verlängerung der Lebenserwartung von HIV-infizierten Patienten.

Material und Methoden

Die Mitglieder des KompNet HIV/AIDS setzen sich aus HIV-Experten der Unikliniken, HIV-Schwerpunktärzten, Patientenvertretern sowie nationalen Referenzzentren zusammen. Als Forschungsgrundlage hat das Netz eine HIV-Patientenkohorte aufgebaut, mit halbjährlich erfassten Daten zur Klinik und Soziodemografie, ergänzt durch die Asservierung von Serum- und DNA-Proben. Auch wurde eine Kinderkohorte aufgebaut.

Ergebnisse und Diskussion

Innerhalb des KompNet HIV/AIDS wurde eine HIV-Forschungsinfrastruktur geschaffen, auf die Wissenschaftler intern, extern und international zurückgreifen können. In der HIV-Kohorte sind 16.500 HIV-Patienten dokumentiert, die dazugehörige Materialbank umfasst ~ 56.000 Serumproben und 16.000 DNA-Proben. Die Kinderkohorte besteht aus 647 HIV-exponierten und 230 HIV-infizierten Kindern.
Mit seinen HIV-Kohorten ist das Netz zum wichtigen Partner in vielen internationalen Kooperationen geworden. Die Aufrechterhaltung solcher Infrastrukturen ohne öffentliche Förderung ist eine Herausforderung.
