Immune dysregulation contributes to the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which can occur in genetically susceptible individuals, likely triggered by environmental exposures, including components of the diet, which in turn has profound effects on the composition of the gut microbiome and on the gastrointestinal epithelium and immune system [

2]. Further, dietary exposures correlate with the incidence of IBD and dietary therapies can effectively induce remission of active inflammation [
