Previous updates of the World Health Organization (WHO) central nervous system (CNS) tumor classification demonstrated a clear shift from a purely histopathological classification towards a hybrid model in which histopathological features as well as molecular profiles are used to classify tumors. As histopathology alone has not been fully able to classify or subclassify tumors, one may wonder whether neuroradiology could have a complementary role to histopathology in the final diagnosis. This could be of importance as molecular analyses are expensive, time-consuming and not readily available to all patients, or not available at all in many regions of the world.
