Peritoneal carcinomatosis is a deadly disease. Current evidence suggests that after standardized gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy resulting in a complete tumor resection (R0) and adjuvant chemotherapy, peritoneal recurrence is the most common fatal treatment failure.
