Welche Rolle spielt das Geschlecht bei der Nierentransplantation?

Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Obwohl die Nierentransplantation die beste Behandlung beider Geschlechter für Nierenerkrankungen im Endstadium ist, gibt es geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede, die schon beim Zugang zur Nierentransplantation beginnen.

Fragestellung

Darstellung geschlechtsspezifischer biologischer Unterschiede und psychosozialer Faktoren in Bezug auf eine Nierentransplantation.

Material und Methode

Literaturrecherche und Diskussion von Grundlagenarbeiten.

Ergebnisse

Frauen mit einer terminalen Niereninsuffizienz haben eine geringere Wahrscheinlichkeit, nierentransplantiert zu werden, obwohl sich ihr zu erwartender Zugewinn an Lebenszeit nach einer Transplantation nicht von demjenigen männlicher Empfänger unterscheidet. Das Geschlecht spielt organ- und empfänger:innenseitig eine Rolle, wobei immunologische, infektiologische und Aspekte der Nachsorge zu berücksichtigen sind.

Schlussfolgerung

Es existieren geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede sowohl vor einer Nierentransplantation als auch in der Nachsorge. Die Ursachen dafür sind vielfältig und beinhalten unter anderem Lebensstil, Risikoverhalten, Therapieadhärenz, soziale Aspekte und biologische Faktoren wie Sexualhormone.
