We appreciate the comments of Dr. Kapoor and colleagues [
1] regarding our article. We agree that oral estrogen is associated with a significantly increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) development in all patients. This data point was not specifically collected in our study [
2], although it represents an interesting point for future research, especially because approximately 30% of our population were women and the average age was 44 and 54 years in the VTE and no VTE groups, respectively. This demographic is likely to include a large number of female patients who may take oral estrogen supplementation. …
