As we approach the end of 2023, I have another opportunity to thank those who have been so helpful in publishing this journal. The past year was notable for being the first since 2020 not totally consumed by the covid pandemic. We continue to receive a high number of submissions but the focus on COVID has begun to wane. In 2023, we have been able to highlight program innovations in community mental health with a particular focus on marginalized communities (

https://doi.org/10.1007/s10597-022-00988-w). As we face ongoing challenges in addressing the needs in of people in crisis, we are pleased to have published papers on the challenges of providing acute-care services (

As a reflection of our desire to elevate the perspectives of those we serve – not just as the focus of our attention but as equal partners in research and program design—we published, “Bringing Lived Experience to Research on Health and Homelessness: Perspectives of Researchers and Lived Experience Partners” (
https://doi.org/10.1007/s10597-023-01138-6). That paper was the product of a collaboration between services users and researchers and serves as a model for this type of endeavor. …
