Infective endocarditis (IE) remains as a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, associated with high mortality and morbidity rates, especially in patients with congenital heart diseases (CHD). Patients with CHD have a complex anatomy, and frequently have multiple prosthetic materials implanted throughout their surgical treatment, making interpretation of echocardiographic images more difficult. 18F-FDG-PET/CT has emerged as a powerful diagnostic technique, especially when performed in combination with cardiac CT-angiography (PET/CTA)
1 and can provide more complete and accurate information, especially in this particular population, and also guide patient’s management.
