Sachgerechte Behandlung affektiver Störungen mit Lithium

Zusammenfassung

Lithiumsalze werden aufgrund ihrer einzigartigen Wirkeigenschaften und hohen therapeutischen Effektivität in Leitlinien insbesondere zur Behandlung affektiver Störungen empfohlen. Dennoch ist Lithium in der Behandlung dieser Störungen in der klinischen Praxis unterrepräsentiert. Der klinischen Wirksamkeit stehen eine schmale therapeutische Breite und ein potenzielles Intoxikationsrisiko gegenüber, weshalb die Behandlung ein therapeutisches Monitoring erfordert. Außerdem bedarf es weiterer Grundvoraussetzungen bezüglich des klinisch-praktischen Wissens im Umgang mit der Substanz. Auch fundierte Kenntnisse in puncto Patientenselektion und mit Blick auf zugelassene Anwendungsgebiete sind unabdingbar. Daher fasst dieser Beitrag relevantes klinisch-praktisches Wissen zur sachgerechten Behandlung affektiver Störungen mit Lithiumsalzen zusammen. Ziel ist es, die Versorgung von Patienten mit affektiven Störungen zu verbessern und die Sicherheit von Patienten unter Lithium zu erhöhen.
