Bacteremia or endocarditis caused by Streptococcus bovis, a nonenterococcal group D streptococcus, is well known to be associated with colon tumors and many cases have been reported since the late 1970s. This strong association mandates colonoscopy evaluation of patients with S. bovis bacteremia or endocarditis. Few cases of localized infections caused by S. bovis have been reported as the initial presentation of colon cancer. Here we report a unique presentation of colon cancer in a patient with severe endophthalmitis caused by S. bovis. …
