At the present time, vitamin D has become a favourite whipping boy for a variety of clinical conditions. It appears that significant proportions of infants, children and adults, have biochemical evidence of vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency, yet do not suffer from the classical clinical features of rickets/osteomalacia.
