A 2-year-old female with stage 5 chronic kidney disease secondary to congenital nephrotic syndrome of the non-Finnish-type status post-bilateral nephrectomies 10 months prior and treated with peritoneal dialysis (PD) presented to the emergency department with acute vision loss. Per report, when disconnecting from the PD cycler that morning, the patient asked her mother to turn the lights on in the room even though they were already on. Dialysis was uneventful overnight; prior to initiating PD, she was at her estimated dry weight of 11.8 kg, and her blood pressure was 102/60. She had been in her usual state of health with no recent illnesses. Other pertinent past medical history included a documented prothrombin mutation with prior episodes of central line associated thromboses and a history of pulmonary valve stenosis. Review of systems was negative for fever, headache, rhinorrhea, cough, vomiting, and diarrhea. …
