Zusammenfassung

Hormone und deren Inbalancen haben signifikante Auswirkungen auf die Morphologie und die Physiologie der Haut und beeinflussen verschiedene Hautfunktionen, u. a. die Wundheilung und die Lipogenese. Mit zunehmendem Alter nimmt die Konzentration von wichtigen zirkulierenden Hormonen, darunter Wachstumsfaktoren und Sexualsteroide, kontinuierlich ab. Infolgedessen werden physiologische Prozesse der Haut negativ beeinflusst, und es kann zur Entwicklung verschiedener alterungsassoziierter Erkrankungen kommen. Das Verständnis derartiger fundamentaler Zusammenhänge wird im Hinblick auf die Verschiebung der Alterspyramide, bei Erhöhung der Anzahl der über 80-jährigen Menschen größte Bedeutung erlangen und ist ebenfalls bei der Krankheitsprävention entscheidend.
