Zusammenfassung

Die differenzialdiagnostische Beurteilung schmerzhafter funktioneller Störungen des Rumpfs, also des Thorax und des Abdomens, ist sehr weit gespannt, auch hinsichtlich der Akuität und eventueller Konsequenzen. Die manualmedizinische Diagnostik kann hier einen wertvollen Beitrag in der Abgrenzung von struktureller und funktioneller Pathologie leisten. Im vorliegenden Artikel werden manualmedizinische Syndrome vorgestellt, die Befundhäufungen aus dem muskuloskeletalen und viszeralen System zusammenfassen. Das erleichtert die primäre differenzialdiagnostische Beurteilung, ebenso aber auch die Therapieplanung. Die Kombination mit den osteopathischen Verfahren ist dabei sehr gewinnbringend. Eine fachärztliche Differenzialdiagnostik bleibt unumgänglich.

Mit dem demographischen Wandel versorgt auch die Chirurgie immer mehr betagte Menschen. Von Entwicklungen wie Fast-Track können auch ältere Menschen profitieren und bei proximaler Humerusfraktur können selbst manche 100-Jährige noch sicher operiert werden.
