Zusammenfassung

In einer immer älter werdenden Gesellschaft ist ein Verständnis für die Mechanismen der Hautalterung essenziell. Dabei basieren die meisten altersbedingten morphologischen Veränderungen auf einer Kombination von intrinsischen (z. B. Genetik, hormonelle Einflüsse) und extrinsischen Faktoren (z. B. Ultraviolett-/Infrarotbelastung, Nikotin, Umwelt). In diesem Artikel werden Einblicke in neue Erkenntnisse wie intrinsische und extrinsische Faktoren, die das Organsystem Haut beeinflussen, und es wird aufgezeigt, welche biologischen Vorgänge hinter den alterstypischen Phänomenen stehen.
