Meckel’s diverticulum, named after Johann Friedrich Meckel who established its embryonic origin in 1809 [
1], is the most common congenital abnormality of the gastrointestinal tract. It occurs in approximately 2 % of population. Symptoms resulting from a Meckel’s diverticulum occur because of complications such as haemorrhage, intestinal obstruction and inflammation. Gangrene due to axial torsion is the rarest complications of Meckel’s diverticulum. Further, the coexistence of intestinal obstruction and gangrene due to axial torsion of a giant Meckel’s diverticulum have been reported in only three literature [

4]. We report a very unusual case of small-bowel obstruction due to axial torsion and gangrene of Meckel’s diverticulum. …
