Zusammenfassung

Die künstliche Beatmung von Neugeborenen setzt eingehende Kenntnisse der Atemphysiologie und der Atemmechanik und ihrer Besonderheiten in der Neonatalperiode voraus. In diesem Kapitel werden verschiedene Formen von künstlicher Atemhilfe mit ihren Indikationen, Möglichkeiten und Risiken dargestellt. Außerdem werden praktische Anleitungen zur Beatmungseinstellung, -anpassung und -überwachung sowie zur Pflege eines beatmeten Neugeborenen gegeben.
