Zusammenfassung

Während das Erwürgen fast ausnahmslos auf Fremdeinwirkung zurückzuführen ist, kommen Todesfälle durch Erdrosseln auch unfallmäßig und im Rahmen von Selbsttötungen vor. Bei Homiziden ist die Drosselung häufig nicht die alleinige Form der Traumatisierung, sondern ein zusätzlich angewandtes Mittel, das den tödlichen Ausgang sicherstellen soll. Das äußere Erscheinungsbild der Drosselmarke ist nicht nur von der Breite und Oberflächenbeschaffenheit des verwendeten Werkzeugs, sondern auch von der Ein- oder Mehrtourigkeit der Schlinge und von etwaigen Positionsveränderungen während der Strangulation abhängig. Tödliche Drosselungen gehen in aller Regel mit einem deutlich ausgeprägten Stauungssyndrom einher. Kehlkopf- und Zungenbeinfrakturen kommen beim Erdrosseln weniger häufig vor als beim Erhängen und Erwürgen. Einblutungen in den Weichteilen des Halses sind oft nur diskret ausgebildet und lagemäßig nicht immer kongruent mit der Drosselmarke an der Haut.
