Zusammenfassung

Akute Schmerzen kennt (fast) jeder Mensch. Untersucht sind sie besonders häufig im Zusammenhang mit Operationen. Hier zeigt sich immer wieder große interindividuelle Schmerzvariabilität, die sich durch medizinische und psychologische Faktoren erklärt. Dieses Kapitel beschreibt die psychologischen und biografischen Merkmale von Menschen, die mit Schmerzen nach Operationen in Beziehung stehen. Aufgezeigt wird auch, dass die Schmerzsituation selbst psychologische Merkmale beinhaltet. Psychologische Möglichkeiten der Einflussnahme auf akute Schmerzen werden beschrieben, und es wird auf Interventionsmöglichkeiten bei speziellen Gruppen eingegangen.
