Hypovolaemia is frequent in patients with shock, and fluid is therefore a mainstay intervention in the resuscitation of these patients [
1]. On the other hand, fluid volumes in excess also have negative consequences including prolonged mechanical ventilation [
2] and association with increased mortality [
