Meteoric advancements in medical science and technology have exceeded the ability of the healthcare delivery system to provide consistently high-quality care to patients. In response to this chasm in modern-day medicine, the Institute of Medicine established an agenda for healthcare systems to provide safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable healthcare
