Respiratory disease is the major cause of childhood mortality and morbidity worldwide [
1]. The spectrum of disease ranges from respiratory infections such as pneumonia or tuberculosis to chronic non-communicable diseases such as asthma. The predominant burden of paediatric respiratory infection is in low- or middle-income countries [
2], where there is often limited capacity for radiologic investigations and limited radiologic expertise relative to the burden of disease. It is therefore highly appropriate that the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging has chosen respiratory infections and tuberculosis as a key focus. …
