In the March 2009 issue of Acta Neurochirurgica, Miyazawa et al. suggest that peduncular hallucinosis (PH) can occur in the absence of direct brainstem injury as a result of retraction-related cerebellar oedema, in a case of microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia. They postulate that this may involve the mechanism seen in cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome (CCAS) [
