Polytherapie der Epilepsie — früh einsetzen oder hinauszögern?

Zusammenfassung

Eine Epilepsie kann heute schon nach dem ersten epileptischen Anfall diagnostiziert werden, vor allem wenn MRT und/oder EEG darauf schließen lassen, dass mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit ohne Therapie Anfallsrezidive drohen, denen man durch eine dauerhafte antikonvulsive Pharmakotherapie vorbeugen sollte. In allen Fällen wird unter der Voraussetzung einer entsprechenden Indikation eine medikamentöse chronische Behandlung eingeleitet. Diese ist nach wie vor die antiepileptische Standardtherapie [1, 2, 3].
