Transverse myelitis, neuromyelitis optica, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus, infections including enterovirus, Epstein–Barr virus, mycoplasma, Lyme, parvovirus B19, herpes simplex virus and Toxoplasma and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome.
 
2.
Obtain serum and cerebrospinal fluid studies to test for infection, demyelinating diseases as to exclude above etiologies.
