There are many causes for a systemic inflammatory response after thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) repair. The aneurysm itself, the surgical trauma, ischemia-reperfusion injury and reactions to graft material can all cause an inflammatory response. This makes it difficult to identify postoperative infection.
