Zusammenfassung

Ein kontinuierliches Rhythmusmonitoring ist der Goldstandard einer objektiven Rhythmusüberwachung bei Vorhofflimmerpatienten. Nur hierdurch ist eine akkurate Erfassung sowohl symptomatischer als auch asymptomatischer Vorhofflimmerepisoden gewährleistet. Dies ist von wissenschaftlichem und klinischem Interesse für das Verständnis dieser Rhythmusstörung, für die Etablierung evidenzbasierter Therapieansätze, für die Definition klinisch notwendiger Monitoringstrategien und für die Entscheidung zur oralen Antikoagulation.
Ziel der vorliegenden Übersicht ist es, die Bedeutung eines kontinuierlichen Vorhofflimmermonitorings zu erläutern, die entsprechenden Techniken und Möglichkeiten mit ihren Vorteilen und Limitationen darzustellen und über erste Erfahrungen im klinischen Alltag zu berichten.
