Polymyositis (PM) is a systemic inflammatory disease that affects the skeletal muscle, the joint and internal organs.
1 PM usually occurs in adults, and the incidence of cardiac involvement is about 9 to 72%.
2 Cardiac involvement has been reported as the main cause of death in patients with PM. Early and accurate identification of cardiac involvement may improve the prognosis of PM patients. Endomyocardial biopsy is the reference standard for diagnosing cardiac injury, which has not been widely used in clinical practice due to its own limitations.
3 Non-invasive methods include serum bio-markers, electrocardiographic (ECG) and imaging are often used. …
