Die Notfallmedizin unterliegt wie andere Fachdisziplinen einem stetigen Wandel. In der Notfallmedizin sind Studien häufig nur unter einem verhältnismäßig hohen Aufwand oder mit kleinen Fallzahlen durchzuführen. Hinzu kommt, dass Patient:innen in Notfallsituationen nicht bzw. nur bedingt einwilligungsfähig sind und weder die Zeit für eine umfassende Aufklärung noch für eine angemessene Bedenkzeit besteht. Eine Möglichkeit besteht darin, dass Ärzt:innen die Patient:innen nachträglich über eine Studienteilnahme aufklären, um deren Einwilligung einzuholen. Der Einschluss erfolgt mit der Zustimmung einer ärztlichen Person, welche nicht an der Studie beteiligt ist (Konsilärzt:in) [1]. Trotz dieser erschwerten Umstände sind im vergangenen Jahr zahlreiche interessante Studien aus den unterschiedlichen Teilgebieten der Notfallmedizin erschienen. In diesem Übersichtsartikel werden, aus Sicht der Autoren, besonders relevante Publikationen präsentiert. Jede Studie wird in Form eines „Journal Club“ dargestellt mit einer anschließenden Diskussion, in der die Evidenzlage über die Publikation hinaus dargelegt wird. …
