We extend our gratitude to Prof. Anjali Mishra and colleagues for their diligent review and insightful feedback on our recent publication entitled “Selection Criteria for Completion Thyroidectomy in Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma Using Primary Tumor Size and
TERT Promotor Mutational Status.”
1 Our findings suggest that primary tumor size and
TERT promoter mutational status are crucial criteria for identifying patients who require completion thyroidectomy. The threshold diameter for disease recurrence and distant metastasis varied for MI-FTC/EA-FTC patients on the basis of presence of mutant or wild-type
TERT. In patients with mutant
TERT, the threshold diameter was 2 cm, while it was 4 cm in those with wild-type
