Zusammenfassung

Das Fibromyalgiesyndrom (FMS) ist eine chronische Schmerzerkrankung, bei der psychologische Faktoren in Diagnostik und Therapie ein wesentlicher Bestandteil sind. Anhand einer Literaturübersicht zum aktuellen Forschungsstand wird die Rolle psychologischer Faktoren diskutiert. Dabei bestehen hinsichtlich der ätiologischen Bedeutung gefundener psychischer Auffälligkeiten bei FMS-Patienten kontroverse Auffassungen. Interpretationen im Sinne von Komorbiditäten bis hin zu spezifischen Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen bei FMS werden vertreten. Die Bedeutung psychologischer, sozialer und interpersoneller Faktoren für den Chronifizierungsprozess dagegen ist gut belegt. Die Therapie des FMS ist symptomorientiert und besteht aus bewegungstherapeutischen, balneophysikalischen, medikamentösen und psychotherapeutischen Maßnahmen. Eine tragfähige Arzt-Patient-Beziehung und eine längerfristige Begleitung scheinen wichtige Voraussetzungen zu sein.
