Since the initial Leuven studies, institutions have developed different insulin infusion protocols (IIP) to improve glycemic control in intensive care units (ICU) [
1]. While most published IIP and guidelines mandate concurrent administration of nutrition support or dextrose infusion, our IIP does not require such practice [
