Zusammenfassung

Die Lungenembolie (LE) tritt relativ häufig und als potenziell tödliche Erkrankung in der Intensiv- und Notfallmedizin auf. Vor dem Hintergrund einer besonders hohen Letalität innerhalb der ersten Stunden nach ihrem Auftreten ist bei klinischem Verdacht die unverzügliche Einleitung einer rationalen Diagnostik und Therapie von entscheidender prognostischer Bedeutung. In dieser Übersichtsarbeit werden die aktuellen europäischen Leitlinien zur Diagnostik und Therapie der akuten LE vorgestellt. Besonderer Fokus wird auf ein risikoadaptiertes und algorithmusbasiertes Vorgehen gelegt. Gerade auf dem Gebiet der Risikostratifizierung und differenzierten Therapie werden neue Empfehlungen ausgesprochen, die in diesem Artikel diskutiert werden.
