We thank Dr. Fischer et al. for their interest in our cases of congenital agenesis of the trachea and extending the literature with two new cases. This confirms the importance of the knowledge of the typical clinical picture (cyanosis, severe respiratory distress, insufficient gas exchange, absence of audible crying and difficult or impossible endotracheal intubation) for neonatologists and obstetricians in the case of an unexpected emergency. Fischer et al. also attach importance to high obstructive airway syndrome (HOAS), i.e. laryngeal atresia, in which the same clinical picture can be present. Only in the case of a CHOAS (congenital high obstructive airway syndrome) with its typical triad of large hyperechogenic lungs, flattened or inverted diaphragms and ascites can the diagnosis be made prenatally [
